Welcome back to another blog about my bikini prep. To read about last week’s blog, click here. So this week, let’s talk about MONEY!

Just how much does it cost to do a bikini competition in 6 months?
#1 Training and gym membership

To obtain the physique you always wanted, training is definitely essential. Finding a gym that fits your training is very important. Average gym memberships per month in Singapore can range anywhere from $50-$250. Let’s say you want more of a “budget gym” membership rather than a 5 stars gym resort, the monthly membership can be $70-80. So in six months, the total gym membership expanses will be $450 ( at rate of $75/gym membership). If you are a newbie, most likely you would want to engage a personal trainer. A standard price for personal trainer per hour can range from $70-$150 based on the experience of trainer. Let’s say you want to hire someone who has done few competitions and has experience prepping clients. Then most likely the trainer will cost you around $100 per hour. If you train with her/him 3x/week, a personal trainer will cost within a six month period around $2400
Total cost for gym and personal trainer : $2850
#2 Supplements
Protein supplementation:
As research suggests when dieting, in order to preserve muscle mass it is recommended that you consume 1 g -1.5g /1 lb (0.45kg). While it is recommended that you get majority of protein from whole minimal processed foods, there are times when protein supplementation can be convenient and cost effective. One of the best sources of protein supplementation is whey protein. Whey protein contains one of the highest bio availability protein plus the highest concentration of BCAAs which helps preserve muscle mass. When looking for a good protein supplement, there are few things to consider. First, there is the whey protein content, two of the more common forms are whey protein concentrate (WPC) and whey protein isolate (WPI). The difference between the two is that WPC is less processed but it contains more carbohydrates, it is also the cheaper of the two. WPI contains less carbohydrates and it is little bit more expansive because of that. Also, those who are lactose intolerant may able to digest WPI better.

One tub of Protein supplement costs in general $60-90. It will vary depending on how much you need to consume. One 4 LB of Combat protein powder for example costs $75, if you only consume one serving per day. Six months of protein supplementation of Combat protein powder will be roughly $300. But do keep in mind, there are many variations of protein supplementation and with wide range of prices.
Pre-workout option:
When dieting, BCAA (branched-chain amino acids) become more important because you want to preserve muscle mass as possible.
One container of BPI BCAA is about $35 and it has one month supply if you use one serving per day..

You can also use a caffeinated drink as pre-workout drink. The price of BCAA price ranges also depends on the brands and how much you consume.
BCAA from BPI sports six months supply: $216.
Essential supplement total in six month: $459
Of course we didn’t talk about other supplements such as muti-vitamins, fish oils, etc. If you are really on the budget, this two are the essential supplements you need IMO.
#3 Gym gear
Got to look good when you are working out….right?! Nah. I put the budget here because I don’t really think it is about the “looking good ” factor to motivate you to work out more. You will need a proper outfit for doing all the intensive training that you need. Let’s say you are on budget, roughly speaking it will come out to be $200 which would basically just include a pair of shoes and one outfit.
Gymshark has very reasonably priced clothing and if you order more than $99 USD, it is free shipping to Singapore.

upcoming NABBA Singapore event.
Registration fee=$50 ( if you are competing under NABBA Singapore)
#5 Bikini+ Posing/stage coach
After months of hard training and dieting now it is time to pick the right competition bikini that can show your strong side and hide your.. not so strong side.
So how much does a bikini competition suit cost?
If this is your first competition perhaps you can consider something more budget friently. For bikinis with just simple patterns, it can range anywhere from $150-200.
Basic pattern competition bikini suit:

If you want something fancy, you can choose the crystal bikini. For crystal bikini competition suits, it can range anywhere from $400-800. Sometimes, it can even range up to $1000
Crystal bikini competition suit:

There is another option for competitors who are on budget. You can purchase the simple pattern competition suit and add the crystals on by yourself.
My competition bikini is from muscle dazzle and Dana Carmont bikini http://www.muscledazzle.com/ and http://www.danacarmont.com/

Competition shoes:
To be safe you can always use pole dance shoes as competition shoes:

A pair of Pleaser Heels can range $50-$80 depending on the design and height (you can find pleaser heels on amazon)
Posing coach.
Some people get their initial posing tips from youtube but different federations may have different posing standards, such as what they consider to be acceptable or unacceptable. If you do want to engage a Pro to give you one hour of posing training, the standard fee is $90-120 depending on the experience of coach.
So total bikini and posing coach budget is: $300-$1230
#6 Peak week preparation
Peak week is the week of competition, during this week it is time to be mentally prepared, slow down the training and get yourself pampered.
Get your nails done: $60

Waxing: $50 (depend on how many body parts you need to wax so I put $50 as minimum amount you would need)

Spray Tan: $50 (some spray tan services can go as high as $100)

Make up and hair artist on competition day: $150 (you also have the option of doing your own make up and hair to save money)
I am not adding other services as some ladies may want to incorporate during your peak week such as facial, eyelash extension, hair treatment, massage, etc.
Peak week preparation: $310
Total minimum budget for six months bikini competition:
$4169 to $5099.
This is under the assumption that there is a minimum use of supplements and the cheapest options of competition bikinis with adequate amount of budget for gym and trainer.

How to compete on the budget.
As you have noticed the biggest expanses are gym membership, personal trainer and bikini competition suits. If you are a student on budget perhaps you can utilise the gym facility on campus to train. As for competition bikinis, you can buy the basic pattern bikini then create your own crystal pattern. As for supplement, here is discount code (BAJEXNF) for nutrifirst to get your 15% off for your next purchase.
Budget gym option:
